What brings you to
therapy?

Hey. I’m phil.

I'll be blunt with you—therapy is hard work. Thoughts and feelings aren't things you physically see or flip with a switch. But you can simplify how you approach them.

My goal for you is to leave therapy with a new and practical way to work through low self-esteem, social anxiety, or sexual dysfunction.

We’ll talk about the science of your brain, how good it can be at lying to you, and how to catch it in real-time. I’m not the type to “yes” you to death. While you lead the session, I’ll make sure your wins get named and the lies get called out. We'll probably also laugh along the way (I'm mildly funny).

If this sounds like your kind of therapy, reach out. I'm always happy to chat.

A simple and evidence-based approach.

Mental health seems complicated on the outside. You might start therapy feeling uncertain about how your goals will actually get accomplished.

My goal is for you to leave every session with a practical skill to use immediately afterward. Here are five key approaches our work can take.

Cognitive behavioral therapy. Identify and challenge self-defeating thoughts as they occur in real time.

Mindfulness. Bbserve your thoughts, feelings, and options in real-time and without harsh self-judgment.

Motivational interviewing. Always remain collaborative and true to the goals that feel right to you.

Neuroplasticity. Your brain’s amazing ability to rewire itself, adapting to new skills and experiences.

Dialectical behavioral skills. Simple-but-effective skills for tolerating strong emotions, calming yourself, and committing to action.

rates and insurance.

All consultations are free.

Insurances accepted: Aetna, Cigna, Optum, Oscar Health, Oxford, United Healthcare. The number of slots available to clients with insurance is limited, so feel free to reach out if you’re interested in scheduling.

All sessions are scheduled for 45-60 minutes, depending on your needs.

If your insurance provider is not listed above, you may still be entitled to partial coverage. I work with Thrizer, which handles your plan’s out-of-network claims entirely for free. This means that if your insurance plan provides out-of-network benefits, you will be partially (and sometimes significantly) reimbursed for a session’s out-of-pocket cost.

Out-of-pocket cost is $150/hour, or $100/45 minutes. A sliding scale rate is offered upon availability.
